HealthSurface is a free reading list. There are no accounts, no ads and no third-party trackers or analytics.
The Ask box
- We don't store your questions. A question is used to find matching stories and write an answer, then it is gone. It is not written to our database or our logs.
- Answers are cached for 24 hours under a one-way code made from the question, so a repeat question gets the same answer without another AI call. The code cannot be turned back into the question.
- Rate limiting uses a one-way, salted code made from your IP address that changes every day and is deleted within two days. We don't keep your IP address.
- Please don't enter personal health details. If you do, the chat won't use them, won't repeat them and won't store them.
- AI processing. Questions are answered by Amazon Bedrock in the US East (N. Virginia) region. Amazon states that Bedrock does not store prompts or answers and does not use them to train models. We keep Bedrock's request logging turned off.

Answers only describe what stored news stories, studies, filings and job posts report, and how strong the evidence is. They are not medical advice and never recommend treatments, supplements or doses.
